TECHNOLOGY PRACTICE OF THE YEAR 2021 – OPTICIAN AWARDS
INNOVATION IN PATIENT CARE
Dr Martin Smith is one of the most highly qualified optometrists in the UK.
We use the latest technology and only the best instruments and we allocate twice as much time for a sight test than many high street opticians. The combination of these factors means we can investigate, diagnose and treat many eye problems during your comprehensive eye examination that would otherwise require a private consultation or referral to hospital. As technology improves over time we remain committed to staying at the cutting edge of the profession.
Our comprehensive eye examination is, we believe, the best eye examination in the UK, and covers 50 minutes with one of the countries’ leading optometrists using £100,000 of equipment.
We include the most advanced tests available and Martin Smith Opticians is one of the first practices, not only in the UK but in the world, to offer the following technologically
advanced equipment:
Zeiss Clarus 500
Ultra-widefield, true colour, super high-definition retinal imaging system can image up to 90% of the retina, compared to standard retinal cameras used by many practices which see only 15%. The images are taken by Dr Martin Smith and the instrument can also detect areas of metabolic stress in the retina which may be caused by macular degeneration or medications. This can lead to earlier detection of many eye diseases than previously possible.
Paskal 3D sight testing
We are the first practice in the UK to offer the most technologically advanced Paskal 3D eye test which is a more advanced, accurate and enjoyable way to measure prescriptions. Patients feel more comfortable as both eyes are kept open and uncovered throughout the eye examination.
Zeiss Cirrus HD-OCT
The latest gold-standard optical coherence tomography scanner. It enables early detection of any problems, for better treatment options and a better visual outcome. All images are saved for comparison during future visits.
“I personally perform all OCT scans at my practice as I believe that this results in the best imaging, and less chance of missing disease that may be just outside the scan area”
