When the sun does decides to come out, we all reach for the sun cream. Did you know that the sun can be just as damaging to your eyes as it can to your skin.
The best way to ensure your eyes are safe from the sun is to wear sunglasses with 100% UVA and UVB protection.
Long-term conditions such as cataracts and macular degeneration can occur when the eyes are exposed to UV rays over a number of years. Cataracts cause the lens in the eye to become cloudy, and this may need surgical correction. Macular degeneration on the other hand, can cause irreversible damage to central vision, and can in some cases, lead to loss of sight.
