Zeiss Clarus 500 ultra-widefield, true colour, super high-definition retinal camera – we are one of the first practices not only in the UK, but in the world, with a Zeiss Clarus 500, which can image up to 90% of the retina, compared to standard cameras in most optical practices which see only 15%. If recommended by Dr Smith this is offered at a small supplement and performed as part of the comprehensive examination. Ultra-widefied imaging is also strongly recommended for children and is available at a small supplement.

Rodenstock DNEye® Scan – the 7000 high-precision 3D eye measurements taken by the DNEye® Scanner from Rodenstock are used to measure your eyes more precisely than ever before. In addition, these measurements can be transferred into your individual single vision or progressive lens. This advanced technology creates the most individualised lens which is optimised for all light conditions and is highly recommended for individuals who find night driving/headlight glare problematic.

Zeiss Cirrus HD Optical Coherence Tomography Scanner (OCT) – Zeiss is the gold standard OCT as used by hospitals and is recommended to all our patients. The Scanner works by taking a series of scans of your eye – including the parts that can’t be seen with visible light – to create a 3D image. HD OCT scanning of the cornea, anterior chamber, macula and optic nerves are included. Minute changes can be detected which can indicate the early onset of eye disease. The series of scan images we take will be saved on your record and used for comparison each time you visit.

Zeiss Humphrey Matrix Field Vision testing – the test measures the entire area of peripheral vision that can be seen while the eye is focused on a central point. … compared to results of a healthy eye at the same age of the patient to determine if any damage has occurred.

Paskal 3D sight testing – the most advanced system in the world. Martin Smith Opticians are the 1st practice in the UK to use 3D sight testing technology which turns the testing of sight into a natural and relaxed eye examination for everyone involved. During the test, the patient relaxes by looking at a beautiful landscape and both eyes are kept open for the examination.
